1. Phone Dr McColl's rooms at 0755980133.
2. Indicate you are a patient and want to organise a video teleconsultation.
3. If you have a referral from your GP the fee is $250. If you do not have a referral the fee is $300. You need to have a referral from your GP if you wish to claim your rebate of $75 from Medicare. You have to prepay the consultation fee by credit card. You will then be given access to a website www.skinconsult.com.au Teledermatology where you will be asked to upload good quality images of your rash or lesion and fill in a clinical history. When you submit it you will be given a case number. Note this down.
4. You then again phone Dr McColl's rooms quoting your Case number and organise an appointment time for your video consultation. If this is your first teleconsultation with Dr McColl then his Secretary will organise a test teleconference with you first to make sure you have the correct set up.
5. On the day of your teleconference you will be contacted by phone at your appointment time, the video conference meeting will be set up and the teleconsultation will take place. A letter detailing the results of the consultation will be sent to your referring GP. Any prescriptions for treatment will be posted to you or faxed to your pharmacy if urgently required.

Dr McColl uses GoToMeeting as his preferred medium for conducting video teleconsultations. All meetings are unique, encrypted and have excellent visuals. He can consult with Face Time for Macs. He does not use Skype as the security is poor and the bandwith restricted. You should have a high definition webcam such as the Logitech Pro HD 910 usb camera available from all high street retailers for around $100. This camera has a long usb lead allowing it to be moved and pointed at various areas of a rash. It also can transmit dermatoscopy images. (See Equipment Page above)
Conducting a video consultation is really very simple. All you have to do is insert a meeting id into an area on a website and click connect and everything else happens automatically. No major computer expertise is required!
